prepare hacked tivo for repair?

Last year, I upgraded my Philips Tivo with a 60GB 2nd drive. It went fine.
However, this week, the audio on my Tivo has stopped working. It comes back after unplugging the machine and plugging it back in, but only temporarily, say for 10 minutes.
If I need to send the unit in for repair, what should I do? Can I leave my 60GB drive in the unit? should I remove it? If I remove it, do I need do restore the original Tivo Image I backed up onto CDs?
What is the procedure? I bought a lifetime subscription on this Tivo, and I need to have it repaired...

I'd pull the second drive out. If you send it to TiVo they may just send you a new unit and you'd lose that drive. Assuming they may want to test it, I'd also restore the image and record a couple of shows so they have something to work with.
