Repair options for DSR6000

I posted this in the main forum but got no replies. Maybe someone here has some insight....

I have a DSR6000 that exhibits the stuttering/freezing picture problem. It his been opened so the warranty is now void. I have heard that Phillips will not work on any units that have been upgraded with a second hard drive, does anyone know for sure if this is the case? If it is, where can I sent this unit for repair. Does anyone know of a independent repair facility that can fix DTiVos?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. The unit worked great for about two weeks, which is all it took for me to become addicted. I need my Tivo back, please help me!

Thanks,

Pyropete

Remove the upgrade stuff and send it to Philips for replacement. Or check and replace the disks yourself as when doing the upgrade - it's probably where your problem is and it's the same process.

Thanks for the reply. I have already pulled both drives and run the latest Maxtor diag. utility on them, both passed the "re-certification" test with no errors reported.

Then I did a low level format to the original "A" drive and restored the original back-up image to it. Re-installed into the TiVo and still have the same problem. Except now I haven't seen the stuttering, the picture just locks up with the audio continuing on.

I have a couple of questions...

1) Could I still have a HD issue here regardless of the diagnostics results? Anyone ever had a drive that passed diagnostics but was found to be the problem nonetheless?

2) The tamper evident warranty sticker didn't survive the upgrade, is this likely to be an issue?

Thanks,

PP

One more question...

Is the picture you are viewing from a DTiVo coming from the hard drive (during "Live TV") or directly from the LNB? That is, does the signal go to the HD before going out the back of the box, or does it go to the HD and also "pass-thru" directly to your TV.

AFAIK, the picture you see, even during live TV, is always coming off the HD, not from the LNB. This is what makes it possible for you to pause/rewind live TV.
