Hello-

I recently tried to upgrade my SAT-T60 with two Maxtor 80GB drives. The upgrade was successful, but after about a week, one of the new Maxtor drives failed. I got the replacement drive from Maxtor, and I am ready to install it. I made the backup of the original drive before the roll out of the 2.5.2 software upgrade. I was wondering if I restored the pre-2.5.2 image to the new Maxtor hard drives, if Tivo would fetch the software upgrade again.

It will, but this is something you should avoid, since TiVo would rather not upgrade the same box multiple times. Go ahead and restore to 2.5. I encourage you to pull the drive after the update to 2.5.2 and make a backup of it.

Thanks for the response. I think that what I will do is start from scratch, restore the drive that I have in the T-60 currently (with 2.5.2), and keep both the 2.5 and 2.5.2 versions as back-ups. This way, when I restore the backup on the new drive(s), Tivo will have the correct software version.
