Should I remain hopeful, or replace the drive??

Last weekend, I added a 120GB 5400 Maxtor HD to my 60HR Series 2, as the B drive. I made a backup of my A drive, blessed the new drive and installed it.

Other than the temp jumping a few degrees, to around 48-49 (from 45-46), the install appeared to have worked flawlessly.

I added several movies to the To-Do list, and left for the weekend. When I came back, I started watching a few of the recorded programs.

About 1/2 way through the first movie, I started getting pixilation. It would happen for a few seconds, and then clear up. This happened about 4 times during a 2 hour movie.

So far, the shorter shows, such as 30 minute sit-coms, and hour long shows don't appear to have this problem (or maybe I haven't noticed it yet). I've only noticed it on 3 movies so far.

Thinking maybe the heat had something to do with this problem, I moved my TIVO to the bottom shelf of my TV cabinet, and set the feat on 1" blocks to get air moving underneath. This lowered the temp to 43-44 degrees.

One of the movies with the problem was recorded after I lowered the temp, so I don’t think that was the cause.

My question. Based on the experience with the 3 movies, should I assume the drive is bad and replace it, or wait and see if the problem goes away?
