My Direct TV TIVO won't power up, it stops at "Almost there" . I've tryed unplugging for a long time, put in a good drive , ect... nothing works!?!

I got this when I edited my rc.sysinit and forgot to make it executable. Making it executable again fixed the problem...

No network card add-on and I did no editing of rc.sysinit.

you said you put in a new drive. Try moving the jumpers on your hard drive. When I recently replaced a defective hard drive on mine, I had to move the A drive jumpers to cable select to get it to boot. Then shortly afterwards it kept sticking on the starting up screen, so I changed the jumpers back to master, and it has been booting fine for a couple of weeks.

See if that works.

moving jumpers didn't help
