I have installed the TurboNet on my SAT-T60 DTIVO 2.5-01 and can successfully ping, telnet and browser ftp to the DTIVO.

I scanned the forum and cannot find the steps to enable the daily call to use this ethernet connection. Any pointers ?

Hi jac,

Unplug the phone line, do a daily call - it should just work.

The symptom of the problem was that when I attempted to \tivo-bin\ping addresses outside of my local subnet I would get a Network Unreachable error.

This led me to the following post:

I remembered that my TurboNet install also failed to update Partition 4, and it turned out that the installation did not create the /sbin/route.tivo file that /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit references to set the default route.

I took out the A drive from the TiVo and placed it back into my computer and booted up off the TurboNet install CD. I mounted Partition 4 and Partition 7, then copied the route.tivo file from Partition 7 to Partition 4.

Placed the A drive back in my Tivo, and voila - the daily updates are now working over the internet !

Doesn't a DirecTivo need to make two types of calls? ...to DirecTv and TiVo

If I unplug my phone line to enable the machine to make the TiVo daily call over the internet will there be a potential problem with it not calling DirecTv? ...or will the DirecTv call be made over the internet as well?

Is there a software solution to force the TiVo call to happen over the internet only?

The presence of the adapter causes the TiVo call to go out over it. The DirecTV call still happens by modem, though.
