With those cheap HD prices, why would anyone have 4 Tivo's and have 3 of them unmodified? Just curious! :)

Any hacks for UltimateTV yet?

If you are referring to me it's because the main one, the one I watch is modified. The other DTivo is in my parents room and they don't record much...there's a UTV in my bedroom which is just for casual viewing and another UTV in the guest room...the 3 others are just because I'm spoiled and can't stand to watch TV without PVR functionality. :) But 95% of my viewing is done with the modified one. Also, I made the unmodified Tivo my primary and bought lifetime, this way if anything goes wrong I can get it repaired since the sticker is still on the back and keep my lifetime.

Yes, check the UTV forum at avsforums.com (parent of this forum.) It's fairly simple according to other members, I've never done it. Apparently, you just need to buy the right kind of HD, needs to support some sort of password protection in the BIOS of the HD I think...then, just swap the drives in the UTV, turn it on, let it dial out and update itself. That's it I think.

Thanks for the information. I finally took the plunge and ordered two of these drives -- one for each of my two DTiVos.

Now, here comes the fun part! ;)

I've got it (from local FRY's) and it works fine. It's very quiet and running not that hot (compare to my old Maxtor).

This is such a good deal, that this hard drive is now back ordered. :(

I swear when I ordered mine, it was in stock. But, alas, Outpost.com says my order fell victim as well.

I sure hope they get these in stock soon -- I was seriously looking forward to having over 100 hours on both of my DTiVos. :D

Gah. I just got the dreaded backordered message, as well. And I just finished one-clicking through all the shows on that TiVo in prep to upgrade it, too! I guess I have time to actually watch "Dinotopia" now. Or at least my wife can.

Anyone know what Outpost's track record is for fulfilling backorders? Are they quick about it? Would they laugh at a request for a substitute product? :)

I may try that tactic anyway, as I got someone else to order the drive on my recommendation, and we're already planning a TiVo Upgrade Party at his place in two weeks. It would be rather difficult to do without the drive, ya know? :D

I had one item backordered on outpost before and they were good about it. They kept me updated and honored the price of when I ordered the item.

If you have a Fry's local to you, they seem to have plenty in stock. I picked up two yesterday.
