POLL New Best Buy Ads

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: spotty

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being great)-How annoying are these new ads?

Posted by: where1

If 10 means annoys me greatly, then 1. I have ignored them.

Posted by: phone1

Couldn't we have had a third poll item: Like I should care either way?

Posted by: daperlman

Poll should read:

*I like the ad
*I hate the ad
*I like this ad b/c they are supporting TiVo's operating costs
*I would be willing to pay extra not to have this crap on my machine

I would probably choose c. . Especially since networks and advertisers are telling consumers they are stealing instead of trying to adapt to new technology. I give BB credit for that. The content of the ad itself was a little too generation x for me though.

This poll would be a lot more meaningful if you actually gave a range of choices for people to choose from.

There was another poll around the time of the Lexus ad that indicated that about 80% of respondents (or maybe it was more) didn't care about the ads one way or another. It's the minority of very vocal users who are raising the big stink.

BTW, I couldn't care less about the ads or the Star. Actually I kind of like them.

I've created a more meaningful and general "Yellow Star / Ad" opinion poll at http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-v...&threadid=62902

Check it out and vote.

Amen. No skin off my nose to have it on the screen. Besides someday there might be something there that I want to view if I happen to be in the market for whatever is being advertised.

Perhaps poll initiating should require member status?

Arghhh... at least that poll made some sense, and it's closed. Why is this one still open?

You've achieved electronic Feng Shui!

Posted by: roysbug

1.

BB annoys me.

Posted by: jlb

How about this option:

Never get them

Posted by: cica

I don't have a problem with the little yellow star. I just don't find the Feng Shui campaign even the least bit funny.

how about 0

Posted by: tom_h

So lets see, so far we have:

- New forum users should have a lower status than me
- There is obviously some conspiracy around new people unhappy/concerned with this practice
- People who dont think like I do are stupid whiners
- If I dont have an issue with something, neither should anyone else
- Various "control" issues

Y'all take the cake.

Posted by: tom_h

And by the way, I think further polls are irrelevant. For starters people are so polarized on this you're getting people to vote "good" when they may not have cared and vice versa.

Plus so far every poll thats lived more than 10 minutes has come to the same results - between 55-60% like it/dont care and 40-45% dont like it or would like to pay less if they're going to get these. This poll is no different.

Well I do not even notice the ads one bit. They do not annoy me. Plus, they could use this space for some awesome content! Movie trailers, TV trailers, etc. I look forward to what TIVO will do with this idea.

The cool yellow star makes it stand out for me, and I like that. It stays on my screen only for a few days, giving me JUST enough time to browse the content. Some is not really worth it, like the Fueng Shui (sp?) ads, but liked the Crow video, Best Buy commercial mistakes and Lexus contest.

Would like the option to be able to order movie tickets through the ads too, if TIVO does do MOVIE TRAILERS. :) DO MOVIE TRAILERS, TIVO! :) :)

[ EDIT: I feel like i am the only one who feels this way. Others, feel free to agree with me. ]

How do you get rid of them?

I'm taping all the WC games and I need all the space I can get.

Is this only for Direct Tivo or did the SA Tivos get spammed as well?

Posted by: Tivoli

I like the ads. I want to see Britney Spears in all ads ;)

Hey spotty, how about you, do you like the ads? Do you have a Tivo?

Yeah!! Why can't Pepsi get an ad showcase like Worst Buy? The could store all the Britney Pepsi ads. The originals with Bob Dole, the current "period" Britney ads, and the new Austin Powers ad she is in.

That is one star that I would select.

They don't take up *any* of your usable space for recording programs.

TIVO has reserved space for ads. You are not losing any space what-so-ever and will never. You cannot delete them, but they go away after like 4 days anyway.

Posted by: bitTraveler

I keep hearing that the ads can't be deleted, but I'm pretty sure I did just that. I described the process in another post this morning...

Am I missing something here?

Thanks,

bit

What about "I don't get any ads because I don't get Discovery paid programming?"

My understanding is that these ads don't take up any of the space used for your recordings, so eliminating them won't give you more room.
