Tivo boot problems after V3 upgrade
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I had a Tivo HDR 112 with a fried modem downloading the updates via PPP with no problems.
I just got version 3 of the software. I followed the instructions posted elsewhere to boot off of the old partition (I had runmyworld=false in the boot parameters) to get the modified files and I mounted the new partition and copied them there.
As far as I know, I didn't overwrite anything with old versions. I copied changes into rc.sysinit. Now, when I attempt to boot off of the new partition (In this case hda7), nothing happens. The picture on the TV does not change (It shoes whatever the cable company is currently showing on channel 3). The lights on the front of the unit go out. The terminal window shows the following and hangs:
Loaded successfully ...
Entry point at 0x80010000 ...
IDEprom: jump to boot_entry (0x80010000)
Boot jump to 0x80010000, params=root=/dev/hda7 shondss=true
I backed out all the changes I made to the new partition and added the following to rc.sysinit (After restoring the original):
/bin/bash </dev/ttyS3 >& /dev/ttyS3 &
In thoery, I should be getting a bash shell on the console, however I get what I noted above and nothing else. I can still boot the old partition with myworld set to false and the picture changes to the gray Tivo waiting screen.
Is there something really obvious I'm not seeing here? What could cause a faulire to boot like this? There is nothing in /var/log except for the utils directory (This is on the V3 partition). Would logs be located somewhere else in V3?
Anyway, thank you in advance for your help...
