DTivo net upgrade

Well, I just upgraded my hard drives and now want to jump in feet first with a network upgrade. I'm not to worried about doing it as I'm extremely comfortable with Linux. My question is what do I gain? I've looked around and it appears with v3 you can do internet updates, but not with DTivo's 2.5.2. You can telnet, you can use TivoWeb, but you obviously can't extract the video. Just wondering if some of you DTivo guys have upgraded and could tell me what you think. Thanks.

Hi,

A DTivo will use the TurboNet card for the daily call and upgrades unless you configure it not to.

Its a lot of fun playing too.

The difference with 3.0 is that 3.0 enables you to have the TiVo use the network for updates without mucking with the disk. In earlier versions, you have to install drivers and modify scripts. Since 3.0 for DTiVos isn't available yet, mucking with the disk is the only option.
