Dang Dune DVD

I just got the new Dune DVD (3-disk uncut version), and while I'm very happy to have it, it represents a trend that I truly, madly, deeply despise...it's a puzzle disk.

The miniseries itself is spread across three disks, with several of the plentiful extras on each. The packaging lists the extras, but doesn't tell you where they are. There is a main menu for each disk, but no master menu on disk 1. And the disk menus are in code. No text, just four icons, none of which are in any way indicative of the contents. So you have to guess which one is for the extras (turns out it's the third; first is Play, second is Chapters, fourth is Setup), then go to the extras list, then see if what you're looking for is on that particular disk. If not, repeat as needed.

Come on, now, was that really necessary?!? Is it too much to ask, when I buy a DVD, to be able to find the stuff I'm looking for without going on a treasure hunt? Apparently so, the way more and more disks are being made.

I just got it today. Haven't looked at it yet though.

Okay, just put it in and it seems pretty self-explanatory to me.. but then I'm weird.

The icons have letters in them. Top to bottom, they stand for:
Play Movie
Scene Index
Special Features
Set Up

Simple enough if you know DVD's in general.

BTW, IMDB says that they're making Children of Dune as a miniseries as well. Should be pretty good.

Heh. There's also a Children of Dune pre-production stills gallery on disc 3. I totally missed it at first.
