Hi everyone.
I'm going to post this in the Season Pass Alerts forum as well.
Tribune has just informed us that the World Cup game tomorrow morning, USA vs. Germany, has been moved from ESPN2 to ESPN. In addition, the start time for coverage of the game has been moved from 7:25am up to 7am eastern standard time.
The guide data for combo boxes has already been updated, that update occurs via the satellite signal, not the phone line. Unfortunately, if you've already scheduled the game prior to this change, either as a single recording event or as part of a Season Pass, the game will not be recorded, as both of these means of recording are channel dependent. Since the game is no longer on ESPN2, your recorder won't know to record it. This is not true of Wishlists however. If you've used a Wishlist to schedule the game, it should track the change in channels (and time).
So combo box owners - even though the guide information is correct, please double check that you have a recording scheduled on your To Do List for ESPN tomorrow morning.
Standalone box owners - your guide data comes over the phone line during the daily call. Unfortunately, although Tribune notified us of the change this morning, they haven't published the new data to our servers. That means that it is unlikely that the new program guide schedule will be available to your recorder prior to the game.
So standalone owners - please check with your local newspaper, cable company, or broadcaster to confirm the channel and time of the game in your area, and set a manual recording for the game. We're sorry we can't get this last minute change out to your systems.
Unfortunately, we do not have the means to notify all of our customers given the late notice of this change. Here's what we're discussing...
We have the ability to send messages and PTCM's to customers - but these are sent via the phone line as well. Not everyone will get a message, as not all systems will call in prior to the game tomorrow morning. But we will make a message available.
We also have many of our customers in our email database. We will likely be sending an email message regarding this schedule change.
We know that this is a big game, and we're working to do all that we can to get the word out regarding this late change of channel and schedule from ESPN.
Cheers,
Bob
