Parental Controls

Since the 3.0 upgrade I selected the auto-enable but when the parental controls are temporarily unlocked it never re-locks them even after the 4 hour period of no remote usage. Any thoughts of why the parental controls are not automatically resetting themselves?

Thanks,
Hal

Hal, I noticed exactly the same thing. Thought it was just me forgetting to set "re-lock". Guess I'll have to play with it to see...

Mark, I have tried everything including rebooting and still no luck. I was thinking about calling TiVo but if you guys don't know, they surely won't:D Let me know if anyone figures this out, I just know that my kids are going to get an eyeful of skin. I guess I could use the parental controls on my TV but would have to have that remote handy as well. Trying to simplify my life by reducing the number of remotes;)

Secondary solution for me might be to use the parental controls provided by my cablebox... TiVo's setting leave a GAP for me between "PG-13" and "R" that I would prefer to fine tune... Though, My 12 yr old son might not be too pleased!

Not sure if DCT-2000 parental controls would improve things...

My universal remote is already programmed to do all the Cablebox commands.

Have not played yet...

Mark, the cable box is an interesting concept, I will be using a cable box the end of July(Comcast going digital in my area). Question, your cable box is controlled by your TiVo remote? If so, how does the cable box know to unlock it's parental control to record a restricted show? Thanks, Hal

Hal F,

The TiVo remote would control the cable box via the IR Blaster (channels only. I don't think that will work to input the parental control keys...

I have a universal remote, which is now programmed to controll ALL of my AV devices (TiVo, TV, Tuner/Receiver, VCR, DVD, & CableBox). I'd just go into CableBox mode to enter the P.C. keys...

However, I have not checked out the P.C. provided by the cable box. TiVo's P.C. relock should work, right!?!? Maybe we need to make a call to customer support...

Good Luck!

I spoke to level 2 customer support and here is what they advise. Turn off (not dis-able, but turn off) parental controls. Hard boot TiVo with leaving it unplugged for at least 2 minutes. Reset PC's and see what happens. I am leaving for vacation tomorrow so might not have time to post results but wanted to get this message out to you Mark et al. Hal
