Have a Philips 212 to which I want to add a large B Drive. Want to keep a backup of the A drive. Have a 13.6 GB drive from a Philips 112. Using MFS Tools, can I create an image of the 212 drive and then restore it to the 112 drive? FAQ's and "How To's" I have read leace me unsure...... Thanks for the patience...I am obviously new but don't want to be a moron!! Robert

You cannot create an image of the 212 drive and restore it onto the 112 drive. You can, however, create an image of the 112 drive and restore it onto the 212 drive. You will have to issue the proper command in MFSTool 2.0 (or run TiVoMad) so that the TiVo will recognize the additional 6.6 (or so) gb in the 20gb drive.

Thanks, Michael, even thought that was not what I wanted to hear... The real issue is that I have a lifetime subscription for this unit. I understand that Tivo will provide a referbished unit for about $100 if this one crashes. For this resaon, I want to have the original drive available to reinstall if repairs are needed....
Will Tivo upgrade my unit from 2.5 to 3.0 a second time? Reading the posts leave ne confused on thsi issue, too. If Tivo will, that solves my problem. I'll put in the smaller drive with 2.5 and marry the 120GB drive to it...
Thanks Robert
