Buffy Emmy ballot-conspiracy?

Found this at www.cinescape.com today. I really hate these awards programs.

BUFFY gets snubbed by Emmy ballots
After years of denying the rightful Emmys for quality in television drama to BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, it seems this time around the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is making things hard for Joss Whedon and company even before the Emmy votes are cast.

Everyone knows the Emmy's are just a popularity contest anyway. Who cares what awards it wins or doesn't, as long as the show is good?

Maybe the fact of the extra publicity caused by this will cause them to actually get more votes. That would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm not losing any sleep over it, but it sucks for the people involved in BtVS who don't get the recognition I think they deserve. It's a really stupid mistake and, unless what DanT mentions comes true, it could cost Joss an Emmy he may have otherwise received.

Buffy is a great show, but not for the voters. If you sat down and watched one episode of Buffy you would wonder what all of the fuss was about because you wouldn't understand it.

That is what the voters do, they watch one or two episodes, don't understand them and it seems they don't like the format as well.

That is too bad because a lot of people are missing out on a great show with a silly name.

It is a shame for those involved. While I really like some of the perrenial favorites like West Wing I can honest say that Buffy has provided me with far more memorable moments and episodes that any of the yearly favorites.

It's obvious that Whedon and crew have been snubbed in the past. Last year, both The Body and The Gift were Emmy worthy and were totally overlooked.
This year, I think that Once More With Feeling should be in the running and Gellar should be considered for Normal Again and Dead Things. I think that a lot of people simply can't get beyond the series title though...

When thinking of Emmy Worthy episodes frm the past The Body is the first one that came to my mind.

And you are right about Normal Again being a good acting showcase for Gellar.

Actually, I'm fairly certain they don't have to watch any episodes at all. Maybe they watch all the nominees.

But I agree that Buffy is the kind of show that gets far better when you watch them all. With all the critical praise it gets, you would think more people would give it a chance.

It really didn't rate any Emmy awards this year anyway, even if you did get the show. The musical was pretty creative and the high point of the season, but the new creative staff just does not have the same magic as the first three seasons.
