I just received 3.0 last night and got the updates going ok through TivoNet and pulled the drive to install the TivoNet script for 3.0.
Had Bash through TelNet and FTP ok after I issued the Tivoftpd command from the Tivo-Bin directory.
I went ahead and VIM'd the command to rc.sysinit... /tivo-bin/tivoftpd and now I can't telnet, get a Bash prompt orr ftp in. I get an error now...what did I miss or what did I do wrong and how can I correct this....please help!
exec "/bin/Bash" failed, err = 9
Oh where or where has my Tivo gone now!

Just to let you know, I do have a rc.sysinit.bak setting in the Tivo-bin directory but exactly how do I go about swapping those two files using
Linux as I'm really just getting use to Linux commands. I guess I can pull the drive and boot-up Linux to swap them but what commands do I use.
Thanks a million

I cut and pasted it exactly as it printed on the screen.
Now how do I fix this.

Figure out where in the scripts it's typed like that and change it. You'll have to pull your drive.

pull the drive, or bash on serial.

I got the drive pulled and was trying to access it with
mount /dev/hdb0 and not getting a response.
It is hooked up to Primary slave.
Can I just delete the new rc.sysinit and replace it with rc.sysinit.bak
What commands do that once I access the drive?
How do I access this drive....totally linux novice here.

hdb0? There ain't such thing. :) Try hdb4 or hdb7 instead.

Not to be rude, but if you're a total linux novice, why would you want telnet access to your TiVo?

I'm actually a network guru who has had very little experience with Linux and I find it intriguing to network different operating systems. I'm studying for my Cisco Certified Network Associate exam and this is really helping me out.
So if you don't mind holding my hand with Linux, I'll be more than glad to help you all with any networking needs.

Using 3.0, does anything need to be changed in the rc.sysinit file to get tivoftp d to work or do you even use rc.sysinit in 3.0.
My command line in rc.sysinit looked like this...is this right?
/tivo-bin/tivoftpd

I find it preferable to put my stuff in a seperate file called rc.sysinit.author, this way you don't risk hosing your rc.syinit file.
