Hi,
My suggestion is for a facility when playing a recording to be able to skip to a certain time in the recording.
eg, I record the Formula 1 and watch it when I get the chance. The programme has about an hour of talking/previews etc before the race starts.. If I want to go straight to the race I have to either:
* Press FF 3 times and wait until it hits an hour mark, or
* Press FF and the press the skip to end button to go forward 15 mins (not tried this since I have my skip to end button set up for 30 second skip)
Since the recordings are digital it should not be a problem to implement this option.
Thanks

Can you suggest a sequence of keystrokes that couldn't be confused with anything else you might want to do, that'd let you get to an exact number of minutes, that would do so in significantly less than the four or six keystrokes (depending on program length) it takes using Skip To Tick?

How about Up-Arrow, # #, Enter.
Oh, and I have "skip to tick" disabled. It is set to 30 second skip.
Instead of nagging the guy, why no admit this would be a useful addition.

3.0 = Skip to tick with 30 second skip enabled

Tony: I can't "admit" what I don't believe. Yes, horrors, a differing opinion! Four keystrokes is no savings over four keystrokes where I live. Your mileage may vary.

Ahhh needing a response to Replay's ## QuickSkip???
I think Tivo should use ## FF to skip forward and
## REW to skip backwards.
Or it could be ## Adv-To-Live to skip forward, and
## Instant Replay to skip backwards.
Either way this would be totally staight forward with no confusion and can be done while watching a recorded program or during LIVE TV. Skip-To-Tick is all good and well, but it is somewhat complicated to the uninformed. We need this to come off as staight forward as possible with as few questions as possible. What do you guys think? Tivo?
## = mins entered in numbers on the remote.

A long time ago, I suggested a number of navigation enhancements but I suspect they were nervous about making to easy to skip commericials then.
For example when your viewing a program you hit select at any point to create a tick mark. Up and down arrows are not assigned in play mode
so you could hit the play button to bring up the tick screen and then hit up or down arrows to go backwards or forwards to the next created tick mark.
When the tick mark screen is not up you could type 30 and up or down arrow to jump 30 minutes backward or forward. I think minutes are more useful in this mode.
Heck if Tivo went farther with this they could have precanned tick marks for special events in movies. Perhaps we could have options to have multiple tick mark profiles like quarters in a football game or you name it.

I find that skip to tick and then <<< or >>> gets me anywhere I want to go very quickly. More codes? Not for me, thank you, I can only remember so many different codes and keystroke combinations.
Maybe SaintM is a DTiVo user and doesn't have 30s. skip/skip to ticks yet. I assume that it will be available to DTiVos when they are upgraded to 3.0.
Edit: Ah, I see that SaintM is a UK user and has also posted this same question there. Don't think they have 3.0 yet.

More likely he is a DVD user and DVD players have this capability. Very handy.
