If you have a commercial you think is to good to miss, tell the others about it

I love the new starburst commercial.

I would discribe it, however I wouldn't want to break Mr Bott's rules on talking about SEX. :D ;)

TiVo users watch commercials? I had no idea.....

Posted by: steelcurtain

I'll stop to watch just about any Budweiser commercial.

On occasion when I forget to fast forward my programs, I actually do see a commercial. The one I like is Captain Morgan...are you the type of guy who thinks aerobics is a sport....a spectator sport?

I've been hearing some good commercials on the radio lately. I like the "1411" commercial that sounds just directory assistance but with a little sarcasm thrown in.

Has anyone ever had one of those conversations when you're with a group of non-tivo users and ask you if "you've ever seen that commercial.....?" I always feel really uncomfortable when I have to say,"I don't watch commercials. I have Tivo." It used to be their immediate response would be," What's Tivo?" I would then try to explain and they would never understand it. Now most people I know are aware of Tivo. I'm still the only one of my friend who has one though.

Come on, you NEVER watch commercials?

DOn't you watch things live EVER? Not the news? Not a show that is just on and you're watching it?

I mean, I fast forward through commercials when I am watching something taped, but I do still watch "live" shows, what a concept, lol.

Sometimes I watch something 15 minutes after it's started... :)

I just saw one the other day:
It starts out with this plain guy getting into a pool/hot tub (?) and two gorgeous girls are opposite him. They ask HIM to come over and sit between them. Then they ask him what he does and he says he works with paper (or something) and one of the womens says "That is sooooo intereting". All of a sudden the announcer says "This is not the time to get diarrhea". Classic. It's a commercial for Immodium. The guy comes back and the two hot women are gone replaced by two old fat ladies :D

My favorite commercial currently showing is for the Powerpuff girls. (the show, not the movie). It has a live action man calmly going from his office to the bank and back in the middle of almost total destruction around him and being changed into a dog. At the end it flashes up "born and raised in Townsville." I have to watch it twice anytime I see it.

Great new ad by American Express, telling how Amex can help if you lose your Passport.

Shows Marian Jones sprinting after her taxi (in Rome, I think). Cut to a shot of her Passport & traveller's checks in the backseat of the cab. Shot of the oblivious taxi driver tootling away, totally ignoring Marian hauling butt in his rear view window. And so on.

It's pretty funny.

Strangely I tend to remember the commercials that I absolutely hate more than the ones I really like. The "Dell Guy" commercials will make me run screaming from the room until it's over. Same for Carrot-head's AT&T ads.

And, yes, this is a result of watching too much live TV. :(

I love commercials. I really only scan through themif it is late or I am pressed for time. Other wise it has to be one with the "Dell Guy" to get me to FF.

I love seeing the Acura commercial with the car driving over bridges and then ending up at a wharf where the driver orders clam chowder, there for lunch, not vacation.

Mainly the Bridge scenes are filmed in Harpswell Maine, on Rt. 24, the first one is shown from Great Island onto Orrs Island (where my family has a summer cottage), and the second bridge is shown from Bailey Island onto Orrs Island, (yes both shots have the car converging onto Orrs Island.) Also there is a shot of the in car GPS which accurately depicts the car on Rt. 24.

Now the wharf where the car ends up is no where close to the bridges, it is the Five Islands Snack Bar, and is about 2 points further north from the bridges up the coast.. about a 35 mile drive.

The Cooks Lobster House seen on one of the Visa (we don't accept american express) ads is also on Bailey's Island right near the Cribstone Bridge (second bridge shown in the Acura commercial).

It is an ad like this that I will watch time and time again, mainly because of the personal connection to a part of it.

I think one of my favorite commercials is the one where there ar two guys floating on a raft in the ocean... all of a sudden they se a ship in the distance signaling them that they have been saved... In their joy one of the men reaches into the water and pulls up a small net containing one Bud Light... When his freind discovers the bud light they begin to wrestle over the beer.

Flash to the ship

The captain (standing on the deck of Navy Destroyer) is watching the sun reflect off of the can they wresle over in morse code... he looks to his his ensign who is watching the two through the binoculars and asks, "what are they saying" to which the ensign replies "We... will... destroy... you" and the captain shurgs his shoulders and laughs. "Reheeheaally". And the cannons go off

Flash to the guys fight over the bud as the shell Screams in.....

It is usually atthis point that I am rolling on the floor and my wife is giving me the "you are a dork" look!!1

Dang, I have to watch that commercial. When my wife and I go on vacation to Maine we almost always go to Bailey Island. She claims the lobster she had at the Cooks Lobster House was the best lobster ever, anywhere, bar none. (Me, I don't eat bugs, but it's nice that they also have food on the menu. :)

This year, though, we went a little farther in, to the Grey Havens Inn, just for the change.

But I don't want everyone else hearing about the nice stuff out in that region! Most of the tourists don't get past Portland... if they all found out how much nicer mid-coast was, I'd never get a reservation! ;)

1. The car commercial where the dog slams into the rear of the parked car.

2. The mountain dew commercial where the kid butts heads with the goat.

3. One for a minivan in which a little girl is brusquely playing safety cop in her school, admonishing another girl who's sitting on a barely moving swing to "slow it down, sister" and radioing "we've got a situation in lunchroom three, come back" over some spilled milk. The part that really cracked me was the kids crowded around the teachers desk and he's about to demonstrate a model volcano... camera pans to the girl standing several feet back, wearing a welders mask.

I like the Tire commercials where you have the Staypuffef tire guy. where he is rubing the tires while the music goes "never gonna let you go gonna hold you in my arms forever" When he turns around an sees the new tire :) Also the Bobble head doll one :)

One of the commercials I always watched was the Staples Robot who refused to sell the fax machine. I also watch most of the budweiser commercials, think about it, it is only like 26 million after taxes. Also the VW commercial where the guy tackles the shopping cart.

Posted by: betamax

I like the one for Sharpee markers. They have an announcer asking people how they use the markers. There's one guy bent over and you can see his underwear poking out. It has 'Bob' written on it. Announcer guy says, "Bob, how do you use a Sharpee?" Guy says, "My name's not Bob."

Eeeeewwwwww!

I like the M&M guys falling asleep in Tijuana

A new favorite of mine is a father/husband leaving for work as his son eats breakfast. As the father grabs his keys we see the son's gone. Cut to the father pulling out and revving down the street at ~5 miles/hour as the son "races" him on his bike. Very cute commercial that makes me feel good when I watch it.

Can't remember what the car is though. :p

I like the Lincoln commercials for the catchy tune that mixes a big band/jazz style with a modern beat with the auto-magic moving parts of the vehicles.

BTW, I only watch commercials at work, a TV station.

There's a new Hershey's Kisses ad! This one answers the question of why Hershey's Kisses are wrapped in foil. (I won't spoil the punchline.)

I think the animators do a great job for these ads. I especially like the Kisses doing a pairs figure skating program. They do a death spiral immediately followed by a throw jump!

I thought that sequence of tricks was impossible -- until I saw Oksana Kazakova and Artur Dmitriev do it. Very impressive. :D

I STILL love the VW commercial where the guy is in the lot, waiting for someone to come and look at "his" car. A salesman starts towards him w/ another customer, so he panics and licks the car.

I like the beer commercial where the guy and girl both have something to tell each other. He tells her he doesn't want to get married. She tells him she just won the lottery.

And the Sears commercial where the husband sneaks behind his wife's back and takes a drink out of the milk carton. He spits it out over the sink, and starts gagging. She kind of smiles to herself and tells him "the fridge is broken".

Levi's has recently come out with a new series. I've seen two fo them so far.

One has a girl climbing into a chop shop window and stealing her car back. The other has a chase scene with the persuers in a lifted pickup with offroad lights.

The first just kinda cool and the second has a quick punchline at the end.

I LOVED the Staples commercial with the robot and the fax machine. I saw when I was at home once (no TiVo there :() and watched it every time I saw it blur by later.

I forgot the other Staples commercial with the music being "It's the most wonderful time of the year" and the kids having to go back to school. I love that one :D
