Hello,

I have a sony SVR2000 in which the modem just fried. I bought a turbonet and a linksys router to use with my COX cablemodem. I look in the DHCP client table and it shows a client with no name, but with an IP address (I am assuming that is the Tivo). I am unable to ping it from my computer, and it fails the test call. (I do use the ,#401). Also, I do get a link light on both the turbonet and on the linksys router. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks,

Vic

Are you sure it's the tivo that is getting the IP address? Is anything else hooked up to the Linksys router that could be grabbing a IP? Do you have 3.0 software on your tivo? It needs 3.0 before it can automatically take advantage of turbonet. Did you force a restart after setting the prefix to ,#401?

I'm pretty sure that it is the tivo recieving the IP address because the only other DHCP entry was the one for my laptop. I do have version 3.0 and I did several restarts of the tivo, the router, and the cablemodem itself after I changed the prefix to 401. I am going to swap in a different patch cable for the tivo when i get home, but i doubt that is the problem.

ok, i swapped the patch cable and it still does the same thing. i deleted all entries in the dhcp client table and restarted the tivo. refresh the list and it comes up with an ip 192.168.1.101 and when i ping that ip it times out.

anyone else got any ideas?

ok, i figured it out . . . once i shut down my laptop that is connected wirelessly and let the tivo acquire the first IP address sent out by DHCP it works. I still cant ping the tivo from the wireless card, but it seems to work as long as it gets the first DHCP. I'll do some more tests and let everybody know how it goes
