Need help with 3.0 Backup in Plain English

Okay, I haven't been the greatest contributor, but am back for help once again. I started out (some time ago) with a Philips 112 (14 hour). First step was to upgrade and add a second hard drive. I did this, before I got version 3.0. Later, (some of you may remember) I was able to get Tivonet to work with a wireless USB device from Linksys. I've been downloading the guide data successfully for some time now. Now, I would like to make sure my Tivo lasts as long as possible. So here are my questions:

1) How do I back up the hard drive(s) on the Tivo? I did this once before, when I was upgrading, but want to know a couple of things in particular:

a) Do I need to back up both hard drives or just the primary drive on the Tivo? (I don't care about the programs that may be on the second drive, so I'll delete anything before doing the backup.)

b) Do the same tools I used to back up when I had version 2.5 work with version 3.0?

c) Anyone know if it's possible to back up over the Tivonet, so I don't have to take the hard drive(s) out? I know I started the computer in Linux (I think) when I backed up before and Tivo runs Linux also, so I'm guessing that won't work.

d) Could you use plain English to explain, as much as possible?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. (I did search for answers to this already, and read one post that came close to answering the questions I had. But it didn't to answer all these questions.)
