I just finished reading Hinsdale's quite comprehensive guide to upgrading.

I had bought a 120GB drive for my Replay Showstoper that game pre-upgraded..now that I use a TiVO I want to bring that drive over into the Series 2. I would like to just add this drive to the existing 60GB drive in the Tivo Series 2 standalone.

A few questions:
1. As long as the IDE cable supports UDMA, it will work , correct?
2. Does the UDMA cable have to be used in the PC with MFS tools, or just in the TiVo?
3. The cheapest IDE UDMA cable I found was $15.00 -- has anyone found one cheaper and where?
4. Given my situation and my relative inexperience at opening the TiVo, would you still recommend I go ahead and add the drive or just replace the 60? (I can do a drive swap fine, it's just all the formatting, and linux stuff I feel uncomfortable with).
5. I have had the TiVO 60 hour for less than 1 month. What kind of warranties am I missing out on if I open the box now? SHould I just wait 90 days? I just want to have the full box available for the start of the TV season.

Nevermind...

I figured out how to do a dd disk to disk backup from hinsdale. i formatted the replay 120 and made it a tivo 120. Worked great -- I even did all this with an XP computer too :)
