Boot problem

I've searched to see if anyone's had this problem before, but didn't find any threads on it, but if it's been posted before, I apologize. I'd appreciate any help you folks could throw at me.

My TiVo was working all fine and dandy, then spontaneously decided to freeze. Picture and sound just stopped. No response from the remote, the little green light would flash a bit brighter when I pushed the buttons, but nothing on screen. Wasn't on the phone (I was on it at the time). Temp. read Normal just a few hours before, and it's in a climate-controlled environment. So I powered down and then back up again, and it got stuck on "please wait a moment". After 10 minutes or so, nothing. So I tried it again, this time it got as far as "A few more seconds please". After 20 seconds, it'd power off then on again. Go right to "A few more seconds...", then cycled again. So I unplugged it, let it sit for a while, then plugged it back in. Now it'll occasionally get to "a few more seconds..." and reboot, but mostly it gets stuck at "Please wait a moment...".

OK, so I'm praying that this is nice and easy to fix. Like "Hold 6 on the remote when you plug it in". But I guess that's not too likely.

It was a 20 hr, modified six months or so ago with a new HD to 120 hours.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry dude, but it has all the signs of a disk drive going south.

Yeah, putting in a new HD as A drive and it booted fine from by backup. But for some reason both old drives were corrupted, bad first sector and some other random problems kept popping up. So neither could be used as a B drive, so I'm back to a single-drive unit for now. Not really sure what happened, not the computer person I once was.
