Hi All,

I'm a longtime TiVo user with a reasonably good hacking background (Audrey, MCSA, etc.). I've been dying to hack the TiVo for some time by my CFO (girlfriend) has typically been reluctant to release the funds.

However:

The TiVo that we bought for her parents had its modem fried in a lightning storm recently. TiVo wants $140 to repair it as it is out of warranty, but it has 10 months of an annual service contract on it. It only has the 12 hour drive in it. This to me seemed like a golden opportunity to get into the hacking community as a NIC should connect it to broadband bypassing the modem. I would received their hacked TiVo and give them mine, but would like to transfer my TiVo's profile to theirs, but on bigger drives.

My plan is this, and I'm looking for tips on what will/will not work:

Buy a TurboNet
Backup their TiVo
Backup my TiVo
Restore my TiVo Disk 1 onto Their TiVo Disk 1
Restore my TiVo Disk 2 onto a new 60 gig drive
Install my TiVo Disk 1 and 2 into their TiVo
Install the TurboNet in their Tivo
Start Using Their TiVo (I assume I inherit their annual service)
Restore Their TiVo Disk 1 to my old TiVo disk one
Bless my old Physical TiVo Disk 2 to work with my old TiVo
Give them my old TiVo with their old config, but with the 30h capacity
Replace their annual service contract for my TiVo

Does this make sense? Will it work? Do I need anything other than the TurboNet to accomplish? I still have the serial cable so I should be able to get a BASH prompt, no?

Thanks a ton in advance,

Jason
