Hello I'm new to the Forum and also new to the upgrading of tivo.
I Used the MFS tools 2.0 to start backing up my Sony T-60 dual drive unit(it is almost 2yrs old and has the lastest update from tivo). after typing in the command to start the backup:
# mfsbackup -6so /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdc /dev/hdb
I encountered the following message:
/dev/hdc10:Success
mfs_load_volume_header : mfs_read_data : Input/output error
backup: Backup filed to startup. Make sure you specified the right devices, and that the drives are not locked.
I was going to back it up onto a 6g Hard drive. (following to the letter the directions in the user guide)
So I checked everything and even ran qunlock program. Still I go the same error again.
After that happened I became sick to my stomach, thinking I messed up the two tivo drives. (The wife was getting very upset!!) So I reinstalled the drives back into the tivo. Hooked everything back up and held my breath!!!
It booted just fine thank you.....(Wife was happy again!!!)
But I would really like to upgrade my tivo (I have a 80g maxtor Hard drive ready to go!) Please Help ME........
Thank You
:D ****Well I tried again and this time I Jumpered the HDs master and slave instead of Cable Select. It worked Like a charm!!!!! Now I have a 67 hour Tivo. I stored the other two drives in a safe place(They are untouched by the Hack)Moral of the story follow the directions to the letter. And do not use cable select!!!
