Looks like the Legion of Doom is coming down the road...

from www.comicscontinuum.comJUSTICE LEAGUE ANIMATED UPDATE
A 90-minute Justice League movie and new episodes featuring the Injustice Gang and Etrigan will air on Cartoon Network in September.
Justice League: The Savage Time will premiere on Cartoon Theater on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 7 p..m (ET/PT).
Here's how Cartoon Network describes the movie:
"The Justice League returns from a mission in deep space to find a world that has drastically changed - for the worse. A ruthless, repressive dictator named Vandal Savage has seized control. To restore life as they know it, the world's greatest collection of superheroes must travel back in time and team up with Sgt. Rock and his military squadron, the Blackhawks. Together, they must re-fight a world war in order to stop Savage from taking power."
New episodes of Justice League will premiere on Fridays at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) throughout September.
"Injustice For All" will air on Sept. 6 and Sept. 13.
Here's how the network describes the episode:
"When Lex Luthor discovers that he has contracted an incurable case of Kryptonite poisoning, he blames the Man of Steel. Using his vast personal fortune, Luthor hires a team of the world's most powerful super-villains to destroy Superman and the Justice League. He taps Joker, The Ultra-Humanite, Solomon Grundy, Shade, Star Sapphire, Cheetah and Copperhead to assist him in his diabolical efforts. The entire Justice League must assemble to face their greatest challenge yet."
"A Night of Shadows" will air on Sept. 20 and Sept. 27.
Here's how the network describes the episode:
"Morgaine Le Fey is an ancient sorceress who is assisted by the demon Etrigan in her quest for the legendary Sorcerer's Stone. The Justice League must stop Morgaine Le Fey before she captures this object that would give her the power to rule the world."
I've read there's also supposed to be more Aquaman action coming. Watching the repeats lately, I'm liking the show more and more.

I love the Legion of Doom, but what about Bizarro?
I don't know enough about the actual comic book history, but some of the ones listed have already been on the show and they don't seem as interesting as the characters from the 70's.
Posted by: Fleegle
I know Bizarro was in the recent Superman cartoon, but he wasn't really an evil character. He was a misformed clone of Supes and didn't come from a Bizarro dimension". I don't dee him being part of this "Legion of Doom".
I do, however, love the idea of Luthor getting some kind of radiation poisoning from Kryptonite. They did this in teh comics and it adds a delicous level of irony to the story.

I've seen the Injustice For All episodes.
Pretty good.
I won't give away spoilers here but it's definitely different that any Legions of Doom ideas you're carrying from the old show.

IIRC, Luthor created Bizarro from Supes' DNA. I could be wrong on this, though. I only remember snippets from that episode.
I do remember at the end he was deposited on some kind of funky purple world where he was happy.

Sgt. Rock and Blackhawk were two different comics. That's like saying, "Sgt. Fury and his military squad, the Black Sheep Squadron."

Darn, you've seen them, and I haven't. That's too bad. Yup, that's right, I haven't seen those episodes.
You're right about Bizarro--Lex created him. It was really the first implied death on the show; before the lab burned down, we found out that there were a LOT of Supes clones in those tubes. No sign of them after the lab burned down (although, if they truly were Superman, would fire have harmed them?)

I downloaded the Injustice For All episode couplet from kazaa, and really enjoyed it. Nice to hear Clancy Brown back as Luthor, (Is it me, or does that man have the BEST voice for villains?)
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
It was great to see the old Silver Age Luthor in the armor again!
If anyone downloads episodes from Kazaa, IRC, or Usenet, I would highly recomend you get a PC with TV-Out I tried this the other day, and most of the episodes I download are almost as good as my TiVoed shows. Some, like the higher bitrate Smallville eps are JUST as good as the TiVoed ones. The Southpark .ram files from spepisodes are fantastic!

The two-parter "A Knight of Shadows" (which has already aired in England) is currently being posted in VCD format (as a bin/cue with menus) in the alt.binaries.cartoons newsgroup. These episodes won't air in the states until September 20 and 27th. :)

Now that I've retrieved "A Knight In The Shadows" I see it involves the origin of Etrigan the Demon...something worth looking for if you're interested in Jason Blood! :)

Just watched an old episode of Superfriends today and I sure miss it. Granted, Justice League is OK, but it's not *the* real Justice League, especially without the usual gang of misfit good guys (and Aquaman looking out of place running around outside of water) and the Legion of Doom (wasn't there also an Injustice League?) that included Bizarro as well.
Soon as I remember the episode, I may write it up. I may have to get a SP for it as well (shown on Cartoon Network as part of Boomerang programming, so I guess it's on both channels?).

OH man I couldn't stand the original Superfriends. The wondertwins I just can't handle watching as an adult...and the invisible plane for Wonder Woman? I had to get used to her flying by herself, but I love it now!
Posted by: Pan Chun
Yeah, but you LOVE Wendy, Marvin, and Wonderdog, right? ;)
Posted by: cancermatt
I must be getting the titles all mixed up. I saw, basically, for all intents and purposes, the "original" Justice League (I guess it's now called Silver age, from the '80s style, right?), one that didn't have any wondertwins, no marvin, wendy, wonderdog, nobody too annoying, but TONS of bad guys and TOO MANY good guys. The one with the Hall of Justice and the Legion of Doom (with Bizarro). Wasn't this the title?

The FIRST Superfriends show was just Superman, Batman & Robin, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman...with powerless teen sidekicks Wendy, Marvin, and "Wonderdog".
The SECOND Superfriends show included Zan, Jayna, and Gleek instead of the other sidekicks. They were alien twins with shapechanging/element-based powers ("Form of an icecube!" )
The THIRD Superfriends show (from 1978) was actually called CHALLENGE OF THE SUPERFRIENDS which dropped Zan and Jayna and introduced full-time several other members of the Justice League (and other newly-minted heroes like Black Vulcan, Samurai, and Apache Chief) as part of the main team of eleven heroes (including Robin) rather than mere guest-stars in the previous shows. It also introduced the Legion of Doom: 13 of the most powerful supervillains in the universe (well, 12 + Black Manta... :) ). The two teams squared off against each other in this series of full half-hour adventures. ("Challenge" info from TV Tome.)

If anyone hasn't caught it already, make sure you all see Harvey Birdman, Attorney-at-Law's episode "Very Personal Injury". I recommend all the Birdman shows but this one is particularly relevant. You should be able to get it off Kazaa or The space ghost/cartoon multimedia groups.

It was just on again last week harv...pretty dang funny episode (well, they pretty much ALL are, really).
Gary Cole has a GREAT cartoon voice...and you can tell he has a sense of humor, considering some of the roles he's taken (Harvey Birdman, Mike Brady, the Sheriff in American Gothic...oh wait...! ;) )
Posted by: harvscar
OT: Don't forget the master role of Bill Lumbergh (sp?) in Office Space. Gary Cole does another good turn in One Hour Photo with Robin Williams, out in theaters (and some homes  ;) ) now.

Ummmm, yeaahhhh....listen, Harv, I'm gonna need you to come in and work on Saturday, n'kay? That'll be great. Oh, and we're using a new coversheet with the TPS reports...I'll make sure you get another copy of that memo...!
Oh...I'm gonna need you to come in on Sunday, too. Thanks. ;)

Ahh, but the new Aquaman is a true bad a**. Who else would have the guts to cut off their own hand to save their child from being melted alive?

Just search by episode name. That should net you some decent hits.

That episode was great! I loved the minor league superfriends especially. Question: What 'toon is Harvey Birdman originally from, and what's his story?
As for the order of the "superfriends" cartoons, I really don't think this is the correct order.
From imdb.com: key word: "superfriends"
"World's Greatest SuperFriends, The" (1979)
"Challenge of the SuperFriends, The" (1978)
"SuperFriends" (1973)
"SuperFriends: The Legendary Super Powers Show" (1984)
"All-New SuperFriends Hour, The" (1977)
"Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians, The" (1985)
("SuperFriends VI" (1985) (USA: short title)) v
Who could ever forget the "legendary" character of Firestorm? Or Samurai?

Harvey Birdman is a Hanna-Barbera superhero from a 70's cartoon, along the lines of Space-Ghost and The Herculoids. Check the listings for Boomerang and I think you can find some of the old cartoons. They like to play them in a group of shows they call Boomeraction.

Will post this in the Season Pass Forum, but the guide (new episodes only) did NOT pick up these two. A "first aired date" of 2/10 and 2/17 is listed. The movie on Saturday is also not picked up by the season pass. Be forewarned!

What happened to Savage Time they did not air it either last night at 7:00pm or today at 10:00 am. Instead they aired Land Before Time VII or something on both airings. When is Savage Time going to air? Anybody know? Thanks.

I've heard it will air in December.

Don't be dissing Firestorm! He's my favorite DC character from the late 70s, and even made a comeback in the 80s. I didn't see the TV episodes with him, so I can't know how he was treated there. But in the comics, he was very well portrayed.

So no one wants to start talking about "Injustice for All"? I'll start:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Kinda Ho-hum through most of it, although it did appear to start about a minute early, so I missed why Lex was blowing up his office and flying through Metropolis. I don't keep up much with the comics--are those people in this "Injustice League" (not that they ever call it that) regular villians? Sure, a couple of them I've seen before, but some of these guys have only popped up on Justice League, and seem kinda lame to me.
But when Joker showed up, the ep turned around for me. It really started to feel like a good ep of Batman at that point. And it was obvious that the weren't disregarding the collaboration between Joker and Lex in the past.

doom, Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Lex was about to finish off Supes with some Kryptonite when he was bumrushed by the JL. They were about to finish Lex off when he escaped in his cool ship
I really wish they'd go with the LoD baddies (Mantis, Sinestro-they had him in a Batman/Superman ep already, Brainiac), with the current animation they'd be cool. I hated the new cheetah, but I don't know if she ties in more closely to the comic. I really do enjoy the show-escapism and all that.
Solomon Grundy
Inhumanite
Cheetah
Shade feh
Copperhead feh
Purple girl
Posted by: cancermatt
Who do the current baddies of "Injustice for All" pair up with, super-hero-wise?
Solomon Grundy-Superman?
Inhumanite-? (I'd never heard of him before)
Cheetah-?
Shade-?
Copperhead-?
Huntress (girl in purple? of Birds of Prey fame?) - Batman
Joker-Batman
Lex Luthor-Superman
Is this right? Did I leave anyone out? It seems to me it's mostly Batman and Superman villians with a couple of extras, not exactly a superhero and a main villian he/she usually faces per character. Isn't this how the '80s version was based?

I think it was originally Soloman Grundy - Batman, at least in the comics.
Inhumanite - Never heard of him before.
Cheetah - Wonder Woman
Shade - Original to Lustice Leuge IIRC
Copperhead - same
Girl in purple - She showed up in the same group as Shade Cheetah and Copperhead. She seems familliar, but she's not Huntress.

I don't keep up with comics since I stopped collecting in the early 80's, but here's how they originally paired up based on my memory and a little Net research.
Ultra Humanite was one of Superman's first foes all the way back in "Action Comics" in 1939. Then he was in the body of a man. (he's also been in the body of a woman)
Solomon Grundy was a Green Lantern foe.
Shade and Star Sapphire (girl in purple) were Flash foes.
Copperhead first appeared in a "Brave and the Bold" comic where he was against Batman, Batgirl, and Wonder Woman.
Cheetah, as mentioned - Wonder Woman.
Most of these villains appeared in a comic I used to read back in the 70's called "Secret Society of the Super Villains" in which the bad guys actually won.
