Frozen/Bad Hard Drive?/Upgrade

Hi, hope you guys can help. Came home yesterday to my Tivo frozen on the first start up screen (black b/g, tivo, ptv receiver starting up). I tried unplugging and restarting and all that. From several messages here it seems as if one of my drives may have died.
I have a Phillips 30 hr, that I added another drive to to get 101hrs. I copied the original A drive and have been going off the copy in my system. Is there anyway to tell what drive died on me A or B.
What would be the easiest way to restore the system and to copy the recordings I have onto a new disk. If it was the B drive, can I get a bigger drive and copy the info over and have more space as well.
Any help would be mucho appreciated. Thanks guys.

I'd take out the new drive and plug it into a PC and load up some sort of diagnostic utility-- the drive should've come with a bootable 3.5" disk.
After the diagnostic has run you should be able to see if that drive was at fault or not. It might be as simple as doing a disk copy (dd) with one of hinsdale's boot CDs or disks. I just did a replacement of a drive with the same space amount and it seems to work, except most of my recordings are no longer playable :(.
