AirNet can't seem to stay connected...

I've got a D-Link DWL-650 card in right now. I've got it set up and it works, but it can't seem to stay connected despite the fact that the signal is strong (ping times are generally ~3ms). I can start the Tivo, I can FTP to it, ping it, etc. and it completes test calls and daily calls. When I come back a few hours later, I can't ping it anymore and it can't complete test calls. I restart the Tivo and it's back online. Is there a reason it seems to keep losing its connection and can't reestablish it without restarting it? I'm using DHCP at the moment and even when the Tivo is unresponsive it still appears in my router's DHCP table. Would it behave any better if I gave it a fixed IP address?

Thanks! -J

Hi,

Chances are you need a firmware upgrade for your DWL650.

I have just posted a walkthrough on my site - refer to my last post:

WinUpdate reports that I'm running Primary: 1.0.7 (PK010007.hex), Station: 1.3.5 (SF010305.hex).

These appear to be newer than the 1.0.5 and 1.3.4 versions mentioned. Are there newer ones than the ones I've currently got? -J

Any chance you are using 2.4 Ghz phones near the AirNet? They use the same or a similar range of waves, and they can cause interference for all WiFi applications . . .

Hi,

Next time it does it, try rebooting your AP without rebooting the Tivo.

Do you have other wireless devices?

It could be a bug to do with re-association.

You know, it's been working fine ever since I pulled the card out to check the firmware revision and put it back in. I haven't had to reset the box to get it back on the network since. I guess it's possible that the connection was just loose or something. Serendipity. 8*)

Thanks for your attention, though. -J
