"The Osbournes"...Uncensored!

Someone has been posting VCD-ready captures of this series in a non-bleeped version on Usenet. The groups I've seen it in include: alt.binaries.multimedia, alt.binaries.multimedia.comedy, and alt.binaries.multimedia.sitcoms. They are up to episode #4 which was posted either late last night or early this morning...but the other 3 were all posted within the past week or so and if your server has good retention, they may still be available.

Someone I was talking to said "Isn't it funnier BECAUSE of all the bleeps?" My answer was "no." They are distracting and unnecessary (I do not need to be protected from vulgarities, thank you).

Episodes 2 & 3 had English subtitles...which actually came in kind of handy for when Ozzy slurs his speech too badly. But, oddly enough, even though the AUDIO is completely uncensored, the SUBTITLES employ the old "S___" or "F___ing" technique...like "we must protect the deaf who cannot lipread" or something! Go fig!

These headers have been piquing my curiousity, so I guess I'll give it a shot.

Yeah I caught some episodes On German TV when I was on vacation. They were subtitled in German, but none of the English expletives were bleeped. It was better - less distracting, as you point out. It's not like you can't figure out what they are saying from the context and maybe the first consonant sound before the bleep, but it still takes a little chunk of your brain to do the processing...

I believe Canadian television is also showing this without bleeping, but they probably don't have the subtitles.

Huh? Where is it that The Sopranos are censored?

I think it's the fact that it's being shown on a commercial/broadcast channel uncensored, as opposed to being in it's original version on HBO.

Yep, that's what I meant.

I read where the first season of the Osbournes will be released on DVD. I'm betting it won;t be cencored there ;)

They might have them in Quebec.

Just saw an ad during last night's 20/20 interview with the Osbournes about the Season 1 DVD set. Uncensored, extra unaired footage, but not coming out until March 2003.
