Hi,

I am about to get a turbonet card (thanks coderus) and want to know where I can find a step by step gide to setting up telnet, ftp etc. I have downloaded an iso image from silicondust and have had a looka t it and installing the turbonet card looks easy however I have no idea what the rest of the disk is used for. Anyone know where I can get a guide for this so i know what i need to do to get ftp and telnet working.

cheers

B

The SiliconDust Turbonet ISO image install script sets up telnet and ftp automatically for you. There's really nothing to do. You would need to setup TivoWeb yourself though, but that is very straightforward.

You'll find some bits here including info on setting up TiVoWeb software. The setting up of the Turbonet, however, is an absolute piece of cake. Nothing really difficult to do at all.

cool thanks for your replies guys, I noticed the part about the turbonet installer doing this after I read through the source, guess I should have done that first off!. One question though.. do i have to do a backup if im just installing the turbonet card and tivoweb ?? if so how much space will i need on a free hard drive? (i would clear all recordings first)

Cheers

You don't have to backup if just installing the Turbonet and tivoweb, I didn't - just skip the step in the instructions.

You don't *have* to. It's at your own risk if you don't. I'd recently upgraded, I had the old drive to drop in on a worst case situation, and a backup CD of a virgin drive, so chose not to. It's on your own head.

ok but how big is the backup??

To be honest, no idea. As I said, when I upgraded my drive, I used a new drive and software on it, hence no backup of old disk. You may find more info by doing a search on drive upgrades, as the backup is the same.

I know when I back up my drive, when doing an upgrade my image was 1G used on my PC, but that with the 1.5.2 version, so the 2.5.5 version could be a little bigger, I guess.
