Anyone keep Seinfeld episode's? Tonight's a keeper

If you've got a Season Pass for Seinfeld you should see that episode #176 "The Puerto Rican Day" is playing today.
The rumor has it that it was not suppose to be aired in syndication because it offended the Puerto Rican community.
This is the first time I've seen it in syndication...Anywho, thought I would mention it.

Wow...it ran in syndication. I'm surprised.
I have it in VCD format just 'cause I never thought it WOULD be.
Amazing. :)

Yup Erik, I saved it! Surprised the h*** out of me! I was under the same
impression you were re airing this episode. But you know what, I LOVED it!
I guess I'm so used to seeing all the other episodes it was a breath of fresh air. BTW, pan chun, nice to see you're back on the circuit.

I was just going to start my own thread about this-- it actually aired yesterday here in Pittsburgh, and TiVo caught it as a suggestion. I was really surprised to see that episode title, and I figured it had to be a mistake. It wasn't; I just got done watching it.

Dude! It ran on Saturday for me too, but I missed it! Like many Seinfeld fans out there, that is probably the only episode I have not seen.
HFC! Can't believe I missed it.

I really don't understand what the big deal is. There's offensive stuff, and then there's non-offensive stuff. There was absolutely no reason for the Puerto Rican community to get offended at this episode.

Good thing you told me about this. This is one of the few Seinfeld eps I hadn't seen. It's now SUID -- along with the bobka episode :D (Soup Nazi hasn't been on again since I replaced my TiVo.)

This was the first I'd seen this episode. What the heck was the big deal? Maybe there was something edited out that crossed a line.
Everyone closes streets for parades, why would the Puerto Ricans get upset?
Additionally, I didn't think it was that great of an episode. The best part of it was Maroon Golf.

Did they keep all of Kramer's bit with the PR flag? I believe that was the biggest beef people had, not hard to believe when you see the uproar people get into over our flag.

I know I've saw the episode on NBC. I never missed Seinfeld. I only saw it once though. I wish I would have read this thread the other day. I would like to have seen it again.

I think they did.
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
He caught it on fire then stomped it out. Then the two gay guys chased him.
If this was it, good grief. It was a funny set up. It would have been just as funny at a Republican convention and the American flag.

I agree with you Bryan in that it would probably be just as funny to you and me, we're laughing at yet another Kramer bonehead move rather than anything else. I think you're living in a dreamworld, however, if you think there wouldn't be some true-bluers out there over-reacting and calling for boycott and cancellation.

Oh I know there would be and probably were. There someone out there to complain about everything.
I just can't imagine that there was anything in there that would cause the networks to not show the episode again.
It just didn't seem that outrageous to me.
The Simpsons offends more people than Seinfeld ever could.
(I mean the show The Simpsons, not the user. Though that would probably be correct too. :D)

Agreement all they way across the board. I'm glad there are some things we can agree on. ;)
I wonder if Doom agrees about these things? hmmmm...

I caught the episode saturday also, TiVo picked it up as a suggestion. I tried to find an article online where nbc stated it would never run again, but I could't. I did find plenty of articles with angry hispanics. You know the same fringe groups that tried to ban the taco bell chiuawa and speedy gonzales.
Basically they were upset with the flag bit and the indifference of the specators to other people's problems. NBC responded the show could just as easily have been about a columbus day parade or the saint patricks day parade, but those parades aren't in baseball season. The cast is coming back from a game when they get caught in the backup.
Glad to see the episode back on the air, it was better than most episodes from that dredfull last season.

<edit- isn't columbus day during the playoff?>

No, no, no! I was just kidding! That's why the :D was there.
Sorry for the confusion. When I was writing that line I realized that someone might mistake the show for your user name so I thought I'd throw a little joke in there.
No offense was meant, you've never offended me I was just going for an easy joke.
So sorry about the confusion, you're a top of the line poster and I didn't mean to make you feel otherwise.
To borrow a quote from doom, "Are we okay now Buttons?"
:D

As much as I love the show I would have to agree. It offends everybody from Indian people with Apu, the stereotypical donut-eating police force with Chief Wiggum, and gay people with Smithers. But of course TheSimpsons has also taken a lot of slack for their episodes "Bart vs. Australia" and a few of the newer ones. :)
BTW Erik-Who is so obsessed with a show that they take quotes and put it in their signature? ;)
