Question re:SP/WL for news programs ala 60 Minutes

So I was searching by TITLE/Show Type-NEWS, last night. "60 Minutes" is obviously one of the first shows listed. So I try to look and see what is upcoming. Hmm. Just a generic description. (Love how the show date is listed as 1968!). I check next week's show: same deal. I look at 20/20 and Dateline NBC and even 60 Minutes II. All generic descriptions.

So here's my question: what good is a WL for "Michael Milken" or "Bill Clinton" if it won't pick up one of the news shows when it has a feature on that person?? Do SP:FRO or WL:FRO even work with these shows? Any success/failure stories?

I have SP's for 60 Minutes, 20/20, and Dateline. They all record every week. True, the guide data doesn't usually fill in until the day of the show itself (and sometimes not at all) but the SP's do work, and I really enjoy having them on my NP list, just to check if I'd like to watch the content. It's a lot better then the OLD days, when someone would ask me -- "did you see 60 Minutes last night?" -- and it was already past, and too late. TiVo's got my back. :)

I imagine WL's would work just fine -- as long as the guide data gets filled in before it airs. More often than not (at least on my DTiVo) it does fill in... eventually.

Thanks for your post; I figured as much. I guess with "topical" shows it makes sense that the content may not be known on a timely basis. I'll have to set up a few SPs and WLs and check it out...
