turboNet works...sometimes

I recently installed TurboNet on my SA Tivo. I have been able to get update several times. I don't have a network port near the tivo yet so I have to run a network cable to tivo when I want to update and then disconnect after it's done.
The problem is it doesn't always connect to the network after a reboot. Sometimes I will power cycle several times before it will connect. The software version is 3.0 and I'm using DHCP on my router.
Here's some of the log
...
looking for debug board
setting ipaddr to 192.168.1.84
....
ax88796: updated tlb entry 2 to 1M
ax88796: NIC not found at 0xf4000000
ax88796: driver installation failed
...
Obviously it's having problems loading the driver but why sometimes and sometimes not? Also, why does the log say setting ipaddr to 192.168.1.84? My network is a 192.168.111.x
Currently I can't get it to connect after power cycling several times.
Any ideas appreciated.

Hi,
Can you please try using the nic_install CD from my site and set the debug level to 'err'.
This will record the cause of the error.

I ran the nic_install and assigned a static IP and it connected fine.
Is it a problem to leave the debug level at "err" or should I pull the drive and rerun the nic_install to change the debug level back to normal? and/or can I change the debug level without pulling the drive?

Hi,
'err' level debugging is fine to leave running. It adds logging in the startup procedure but shouldn't have any affect on normal operation.

I just gotta say, you guys who make the CD images for everyone are really cool. It's a good thing you're doing.
