Some users have posted the distance between thier Tivo WiFi cards and their access points with the Tivo cover ON and without having added an external antenna. I've seen 25 feet (through one floor/ceiling) using a Linksys.

If you've got same running, please post max range, AP hardware, and WiFi card in use (plus firmware revision if you know it), so others can judge what equipment to buy.
