So, has the 800# gone away again?

I've read a lot of long threads about the 800 number including a long one praising the company for restoring "lifetime service" to those of us who paid for it -- even though we live in the hinterlands. Appears the praise came too soon, or it was ineffective.

Today, my tivos began again telling me to select a long-distance number. Aaaargh. I noted no traffic on this topic, so....is is just me? Or has tivo once again decided to renege on its promises?

I don't want to learn how to hook my tivo to my computer. I just want what I was promised when I purchased my tivos.

What's next? "Um, we are now going to discontinue your "lifetime service"? I would not be at all surprised.

No. From time to time TiVo will tell you to go check to see if they have added a local number for you. After getting the new list you can still use the 800# if no local number appears.

Thanks very much. With Worldcom evaporating, the addition of new numbers in the black hole in which I live is unlikely. :)
