missing pppd?

Trying to get ppp over serial.

Most likely I am lame - I boot off the TIVO boot cd I upgraded the drive with. Login as root , then
mount -o remount,rw /
cd /sbin
there is not a pppd file there - am I missing something?

How do I install bash (if I need to).

You need to mount the TiVo's drive first.

Try:

mkdir /mnt/4

mount -o rw /dev/hdX4 /mnt/4
(where X is the appropriate letter for where you have the drive plugged in as detailed millions of other places)

cd /mnt/4/sbin

pppd should be in there.

When you boot from a boot disk/CD, / is the root of that drive, not the root of the TiVo drive.

OK - I was lame - but getting better!

Now I have the unauthenticated user on my XP box - I can telnet to the IP and get the bash prompt (any way I can get the login?).

I did the ,#401 and now actually get passed the Dialing part 2 of the test call - the Connecting ends up with Failed. Service Unavailable.

Any ideas?
