Amazing Race 3 AND 4!!

I saw a promo on CBS stating that "The Amazing Race 3" starts October 2nd. Just as exciting is the fact that they also announced they are taking apps. for "Amazing Race 4. This will help me get over "The Mole" withdrawals.:D

October! Nope, I'll still have withdrawals. :D
It's one of my favorites, I can hardly wait! :)

I think Amazing Race is probably the most engaging of the reality shows. My wife and I really love it. We were so happy to see good win out over evil last time. That idiot Will shouldn't win anything, ever.

Yeah, last seasons finale was the most exciting reality television ever aired. (In my never to be humble opinion.)

Now all they need is a new host. ;)

I love this show. How can they top the characters from TAR2? Hopefully they have Wil & Tara again so that we may root against them :D
DLiquid, I actually enjoyed the expressionless face that the host had as he told them what place the team finished. You could see that the racers wanted to see if they had come in last or first.

I really like The Amazing Race, but after seeing what a difference a good reality TV host can make (Anderson on The Mole 2), I really see that wooden Amazing Race host as a weakness. If I have to hear him explain a roadblock one more time I'm gonna--

I think that Anderson and Phil are actually good hosts for the shows that they represent. You need someone with Anderson's wit and charm to do The Mole.
For TAR, Phil is really just needed for the beginning, explanations/descriptions (even the Roadblocks), and the end of each leg. There is no interaction needed between the host and teams during each leg.

I agree. However, Anderson is in a league of his own.

I have always thought that the Amazing Race was by far the best reality show on television, (in fact one of the most entertaining shows of ANY type) although I really think The Mole 2 was right there with it. What is depressing, at least to me, is that Survivor gets more viewers than Amazing Race and Mole COMBINED. I still watch Survivor, but IMHO, it is so far inferior to AR and Mole its almost comical............

Exactly, Dennis. Survivor sucks compared to AMR and it still gets more viewers.

Oh lucky I found this thread! They really sneak that application form out there! My brother and I missed the last deadline by just a few days (course, it would have taken us a week or more to put together the tape) and we're excited to try this time. Fingers crossed ;) We think we have at least a good chance to get to the second level, because we fit a nice category - both played NCAA soccer at an Ivy league school, and are under 26. Whuddya think? :)

I'm just really excited about this. I loved Survivor when it first came out but Amazing Race just blows it away. I absolutely love the show.
I just wish Canadians could try out for the show. I'd forfeit the prize money just for the opportunity to play.

I liked it (saw just a little bit of TAR 1, all of TAR2).
But I was annoyed at how all the teams were bunched in almost every episode, so not even a little advantage was gained, even with the Fast Forward.
(On the other hand I can see teams getting too far ahead or behind could lose some suspence).

Cameronj, be sure to let us know if you get chosen for the interviews.

I found AR 1/2 to be much more intertaining than the Mole 1/2. The characters seemed to be more entertaining (particularly in season 2), and the show has a bit more of a breakneck pace. It doesn't seem like the people in the mole have as much to lose -- e.g.: you can suck at the competitions and still stay in. The only thing I would like to see change about the AR is I'd like to see less bunching (e.g.: I don't like the way one part of the competition automatically ensures that everyone bunches up again -- e.g.: flight delays).
Anderson is a better host, but the Mole feels like it needs something more. Even so, both are infinitely better than the alternatives (e.g.: Survivor, Big Brother).

Although I watch Survivor when I can it in no way holds my attention like The Mole or The AMR. I just wish the Mole would get better ratings to ensure that they keep it on.

Well, theres one and every crowd and here I am. Sorry, but in my humble opinion neither The Mole or AMR can touch the original-Survivor. I catch myself knodding off during AMR. I thought the first AMR was the best even though it didn't have the last minute finish.
Hey, here's a thought. Lets put Katy on Survivor! Can you imagine the crying that would happen then?
Come to think of it she'd be a hoot on AMR too.

I certainly don't think you are the exception hookbill, if you look at the ratings you are in the majority--althought you are probably in the minority of people responding to this post. I did think the first season of Survivor was captivating, and the final episode was unforgettable. My problem with it since is it seems like the same old thing over and over again. (We're hungry, we're thirsty, we're tired, we're hot, blah, blah, blah)

Katie on Survivor! Now that would be some good TV!:D

I think the bunching is the only way to keep the show interesting. Sure it's great if "your team" gets way ahead of everyone else, but if "your team" gets way behind, it would be boring. Just like the end of TAR 1 where team Guido fell more than a day behind. Everyone knew they had no way of winning, so it was like they weren't even in the race anymore.

I agree that bunching is a necessary to keep the game interesting. However, perhaps they could reduce the need for bunching by having more fast-forwards available throughout the season

Yeah but how do they stack up to survivor 2, 3, or 4?? Survivor 1 stands out because it was extremely unique at the time.

Has anyone else checked out the new teams at: http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race3/ ?
What is your first impressions?
Posted by: laria
LENNNNNNYYYYYYY!!!
Ok that wasn't really my first impression, but it was that there seemed to be a lot less young couples who were trying to reconcile or figure out if their relationship will work. Seems to be more friends or family member teams.
