Please Wait...Powering Up FAQ?

Hi. I have a Hughes Direct Tivo Series 1 unit with I upgraded with two 80 gig drives. It's worked with no problem since Feb. Last week we got some brief freezes/pixellating, and this morning we woke up to "Please Wait...Powering up."
Is there a FAQ run-down of what to do to investigate this problem?
From what I've seen, some suggestions are:
1) Let "Powering up" run for anywhere from 1-12 hours
2) Unplug, re-plug to re-boot
3) run "Pause" test and check lights to indicate if its a hardware or hard drive issue (is there a defnitive thread about this?)
4) taking out one or both drives, putting them back in PC, and running Maxtor Utilities to check
If none of these work, are saved programs lost?
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same problem. I have now waited the 24 hrs the message asks for and will be calling Tivo shortly. I hope this is not upgrade related. Mine is a Philips 6000.

Unplugging and re-plugging seems to have fixed mine, though it's lost it's Tivo Suggestions (??). Anyway, I would still be interested in a FAQ compiling the various approaches people have taken to this problem. Thanks, and good luck to everyone else.
