Drive Noise Management

Anybody know of an ATA acoustic management utility that will run under Linux (i.e., on the TiVo)? I'd like to experiment with this, but don't want to crack open the case again. I have Telnet/FTP access to the TiVo via TurboNet.

To my knowledge, both setacm.exe and ataac.exe come in DOS only versions. IBM has a disk utility which will run under Linux, but only works I believe on IBM drives, and it has to be run from a bootdisk, so not much use in the TiVo.

It's not just Linux, you'd need one compiled for PowerPC (assuming Series 1). "Rotsa Ruck!"

Given that each drive manufacturer's method for controlling acoustic management is different, your best bet is to bite the bullet, pull the drive, and use the disk manufacturer's utility from a DOS floppy.
