What will segment Tivo.bak

I would like to segment my tivo.bak and store it on cd and then in then in the future be able to join it back into one file. Since it is a linux based file can i use a dos program like RAR or Win zip to break this thing into smaller sizes?

Yes you can use RAR or Zip to split it - it may be a Linux file, but there's nothing terribly special about it.
