Will Tivo know?

I am new to TIVO, so when I want it to record a Baseball game, or in the next couple of months football, hockey or basketball games.

How do I get it to record the whole game?

Most games are scheduled to take a set amount of time, and then always run over. If I only get so much of the game it is a huge tease.

TiVo won't know if a game goes into overtime or long. It just can't yet.

Best thing to do is pad the recording for as much as you think would be necessary to get the entire thing.

You can do this by changing recording options when you setup the recording or from the To Do List.

Obviously, TiVo will not know when a game goes into overtime. But, you can manually PAD the duration that TiVo will record, i.e., add extra minutes to the end of the recording.

Other sports fans have recently discussed sports/padding here: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-v...&threadid=70693

User JOSEKI had a good idea:

For the uninitiated, here are some useful guidelines to padding your football recordings:

Preseason games - no pad at all
2 running teams - 30 minutes
2 passing teams - 60 minutes
1 of each - 45 minutes

You can't pad by 45 minutes, only 30 or 60. You'd have to set up a manual recording if you really wanted to record an extra 45 minutes only.

And this sort of question really belongs in the Help Forum.
