"It's funny 'cause it's true!"
*Note: I apologize for the original post. Evidently SA has it rigged so that anyone remotely calling an image from their servers gets a rather disgusting picture instead. This was unintentional.

WTF????

Bumping bad. Reporting to moderator, good.
Posted by: jchan
Uhhh...dear god. I swear that was not the pic.
My apologies.
Let me fix now.
Ewww...*shudder*
Posted by: DrStrange
Ah, well, that explains much. Apology accepted but since the actual image isn't even that funny, I don't think it's necessary to favor such idiots with our traffic. Myself, I'd delete the link entirely. Screw 'em until they grow up a bit.

Hi jchan, when I saw the picture I thought you were some sort of psycho, but now I see what you were trying to post. Just a word of advice, when you post a link, try doublechecking your post to see if it loads properly, because stuff like that can ruin your rep on a family type forum. Anyway, happy Tivoing :) !!!!

Darn, I didn't get to see the picture before it got fixed. :(

So much the better for you. Trust us. :)

Well, (again) being the curious type, I tried to force this behavior (creating a page that references the image). Couldn't see it. How about a PM, someone?
Edit: nevermind. I got it to work by doing a test post in the test forum
Kinda puts that No Doubt video into perspective, huh?
Posted by: phone1
Yeah, I had to try it too - like handing someone a box with "Do Not Open This Box" written on it.
Odd that the [img] command worked fine, [url] brought up the digsgusting imagery (ugh-these people really are sick).
I always preview and check links before posting - now I know why!
(Now how do I get that out of browser history?)
Posted by: boywaja
and yet you didn't leave the post in the test posting area. I'll assume that I am better off not seeing the deranged pic.
couldn't see the real link at work, blocked by websense. I just checked it out through my home computer.

That might not have helped in this case. If it was in your browser cache, it might not have even attempted to re-fetch the image.

Umm, no. In fact, I didn't even use a new post. I edited one of my prior posts in the test posting area to avoid having it bumped.

It was never in the cache - brand new url copied from properties for the "TiVo" picture.

Heh some of you folks must not read SA often.. if you leech images off of his site it posts a male member with issue..
saying not to leech from his site..

Cache and address-bar history, different things. If the browser displayed the image (such that you could right-click it and get its properties), then it's in the cache.

Regardless, my browser checks for update every time a page is viewed. :)

When I saw the post bleary eyed @ ~5:00AM, I wasn't even sure what I was looking at  . I thought it might be.... but then again, it could have been one of those "it''s not what you think it is" type things.
Anyway, apology accepted, though considering the circumstances, it wasn't entirely the posters fault.

It is traditionally considered impolite to "hot link" a picture from another site.
The correct way to post that picture here would have been to save the picture and host it on your own server/webspace.
(as someone has already done)
Some webmasters go out of their way to stop people from stealing their bandwidth.
Some have a picture that is automatically displayed; and some will go as far as to manually replace the picture with one with the same file name.
Which could very easily cause a problem for the person who linked the picture...

Let me go throw up now.

I never saw it, and was wondering why people were complaining. If you use a program to block the referrer header, you get the real pic and not the porno.
Yet another reason to use The Proxomitron.

I thought the whole purpose of the internet for you was porn? What are you doing using a porn blocker? :)

SA is hilarious.
His 'ICQ Pranks' are some of the funniest reading on the net. SHame he doesn't do them so often, anymore.

The Proximitron blocks POP-UPS and BANNERS. All the better for surfing porn... ;)
Posted by: jchan
OH, you mean just like Mozilla here. No pop-ups, no banners unless I want them.
Now if only I could get rid of Flash and Shockwave advertisements....

Can do, at least with Proxomitron....
Filter Name: Flash animation killer
Bounds Match: <object*
Byte Limit: 1024
Matching Expression: [^>]++codebase=$AV(*macromedia.com*flash*)*
<param ( name=$AV(movie|src)| value=$AVQ(\1))+{2}*
Replacement Text: [flash]
The above filter will replace any flash link with the text [flash] as a hyperlink to the flash content. This filter is available out of the box in recent versions of proxomitron.

I have to credit you for phraseology so mild that I almost did not notice the meaning. :)
On the other hand, experience in reading this forum has proven we have many male members with issues. ;)

Some web servers (like mine) are configured to block if the referrer field is not sent as well. I had enough people direct linking to a friends image selection that we said enough was enough - its gotta match exactly my domain name for the specified directories.
