Help needed! New B drive upgrade failure .....

I'm trying to upgrade my 14-hr Philips machine to add a 60 gb Western Digital drive. Machine is running software version 3.0

Having backed up the A drive, blessed the new B drive, and installed both into the Tivo, the machine went into a loop on the 'Please wait...screen'.

I checked the jumpers, replaced the IDE cable, but still the loop.

I then removed the new B drive, and the machine looped on the original A drive.

Finally, in desperation, I restored the backup OVER my original A drive, and put it back in the machine on its own. Reboot hangs on the 'Please wait.." screen.

So I'm unable to restore.....HELP!!

Check the cables are properly seated at the mainboard end.

Try putting the backup on your new drive. If your TiVo sticks at 'Welcome powering up' (the first splash screen) it's probably a hard drive problem, if it sticks at 'almost there' it's either a non-hard drive problem or a botched upgrade.

You might want to grab a Philips image off the Net. Do make sure your drives are being correctly recognised and aren't locked.

I've put the backup on both my new drive and the new drive, and am unable to reboot. Tivo starts with powering up screen, please wait ..... then screen flashes white and back to powering up.....

Where can I find a Philips image I can restore from?

A Google search would be a good place to start.

Thanks for the help, Robert. I restored to my original Tivo drive from another 3.0 image, and it rebooted perfectly. My original backup must have been corrupted, somehow.

Tivo now up and running with additional 60 GB drive. Thanks again.
