Reduced remote range after airnet upgrade

Has anyone else encountered this?

I just finished installing the airnet upgrade into the SA Tivo, but now can't be more than 5ft away from the TiVo to get the remote to register. I thought it might be a battery, or remote issue so I tried new batteries and a universal remote. I only got about another foot of range with these solutions.

Any help, solutions, suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'd bet you somehow jostled or otherwise moved the IR receiver in the unit during the upgrade (somehow). Since the remote uses light and the Airnet uses radio, it's not like they can interfere with each other.

Thanks, I thought about that, but haven't opened up the unit again to check it out.

I've had similar problems where the effective range of the IR is greatly reduced. I have not yet found why this happens, but have found that over period of days and a number of restarts it seems to fix itself. Also found that when I left it unplugged for a few minutes that it seems to correct as well.

Currently able to use remote at about 18 feet.

Thanks,

Worked like a charm. I unplugged the unit and left it for about 15min and when I brought it back up the range was back to normal.
