is from a hrd112 and I have hrd 212. mfsrestore -s 127 -zpi /mnt/dos/tivo.
bak /dev/hdb Is this the right command to expand the image? The error

keep in mind linux/unix is case sensitive -- check your filename carefully.
also, are you sure it's mfsrestore ? not mfstool restore ?

That's not a tremendous improvement, but I'll see what I can do:
You have a FAT formatted disk on Secondary Master that contains a file called tivo.bak that you want to restore to a disk on Primary Slave.
You will need to follow Hinsdale's instructions for mounting a drive ready for a backup or restore, but the partition will be /dev/hdc1 rather than hda1 as in Hinsdale.
If you do -xzpi rather than -zpi, MFS Tools will expand your image as it's restored.
Unix is case-sensitive, but not on FAT filing systems. If your file is really called C:\TIVO.BAK or C:\tivo.BAK, /mnt/dos/tivo.bak will still work.
mfsrestore and mfstool restore are equivalent. mfsrestore will only work if your environment is setup correctly, on the MFS Tools boot disks, it is. (Use mfstool restore if you're running MFS Tools from a different Linux setup).

Hi again. After taking the advice I get this line "Restore failed: /mnt/dos/tivo.bak: Success. This is a interesting line what does it mean? Thanks Bruce

It means you can't write to the output file (Tiger probably deserves a nomination for 'least helpful error message', but the competition for that award is fierce).
I don't recall seeing this mentioned on restore before (it comes up quite frequently on backups). I would suspect your target device was wrong. /dev/hdb is your primary slave (drive jumpered as slave on the same cable as your Windows drive).

Robert, hdb is my primary slave. Argh Thanks yet again :!

you need to mount the cdrom, then use that path.
