Is it possible to get Bash on serial port on D-TiVo 2.5.2

I can't get a Bash running on the serial port of my T-60. I reflashed the PROM, killed the initrc, added the bash command to the end of my rc.sysinit on the active partition, but no connection. Has anyone been able to get this to work? If so, can you explain what steps I might have missed?

Are you sure that you are adding it to the right partition. The active partition changed from 2.5.1 to 2.5.2.

Well, the other partition's rc.sysinit still had the script from flashtivo, but I added the bash to that one as well.
Has anyone been able to get this to work? I still haven't heard of a success here.

It looks like you did the correct steps. I have some questions.
Did you ever have bash on this D-tivo?
Did you check rc.sysinit to make sure your changes are still there
and are spelled correctly?
Is you terminal software at 9600,N?

This is the first time I have tried to get Bash on my D-TiVo.
I'll pull the drives again and check to see if rc.sysinit still has the changes.
I've tried 9600, 19299, 38600, etc. to no avail (yet).
Thanks for the help. If it's possible, I'll get it eventually.

Also, please post exactly what you put as your bash command at the end of rc.sysinit. 99% of the time a problem is caused by a typo, and sometimes they are extremely hard to catch. I once had to type "TiVo" and I had to look at it several times to realize that I kept typing "Tivo"

Are you sure you have the correct cable?

It turns out I had wired the cable wrong. I skimmed the TiV0 updating over dedicated Internet HOWTO section 2.1 on Connecting your serial port where it lists the TiVo serial port as "Tip to Pin 3 (TX), Ring to Pin 2 (RX), Sleeve to Pin 5 (GND)" and missed the following paragraph that explains that unless I swap TX and RX at one end I'll still need a null-modem adapter. I missed the fact that the pinout listed describes the connections of the TiVo-to-DSS cable, not the desired connections of a TiVo-to-PC cable.
Now I get the Bash prompt. Next step is to get the PPP connection working.
