Where is the best (least expensive!!!) place to buy hard drives to upgrade a TiVo?

I know I've seen a couple of places posted before, but wanted to double check before I buy...

Actually, I just did the Circuit City deal for $129!

Actually, circuit city has 120 gig western digital for $129.99 plus a $30 rebate for net cost of $99.99 plus tax/shipping...it is advertised as a 5400 rpm drive , but some members of this forum have reported that they received a 7200 rpm drive instead when they opend up the box.

As a general rule, Price Watch is a good place to go looking for low prices from Web-based retailers. Not all retailers register their prices, though, and some of the lowest prices you'll find are from dealers you might prefer to avoid. For instance, I once bought a drive from such a place (whose name eludes me at the moment), but they shipped it with poor padding. The drive failed just after the outfit's 30-day warranty expired, I suspect because of the poor padding during shipment. Such cut-rate drives often lack manufacturers' warranties, so you're stuck with the shorter warranties offered by the company. In this particular case, I was out the cost of the drive, but overall I've had good luck, and saved enough to cover that one bad experience.

Some specific mail-order/Internet retailers with which I've had good luck include NewEgg, Buy.com, Axion, and Dirt Cheap Drives. I haven't checked any of these outfits' prices recently, though, and they can certainly change rapidly.

To find good prices locally, Sales Circular is a useful resource. They've got information on sales advertised at local retailers like Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, etc. On occasion, these are better than mail-order prices, as with the current Circuit City $100 (after rebate) price for a 120GB WD drive. More often, though, mail-order prices are lower. The best local prices also usually involve rebates, which are a pain and aren't always delivered.
