Smaller Drive -> Bigger Drive. Will it use the extra space?

I'm re-upgrading my TiVo from an 80GB drive to a 120GB. This will be my b-drive and I'm planning on using the dd command to move the data over. I've looked through the threads but I haven't found a specific answer.
Will the extra space be automatically used by the TiVo and will it result in more available recording time?

dd is a very dumb tool, it just copies its input to its output and therefore creates an exact clone of the source drive.
However MFS Tools 2.0 added some functionality and mfsadd can expand drives in the way you need.
Note that this will probably take you over the 140Gb threshold, if you didn't expand your swap the first time, your TiVo will not recover from a 'green screen' filesystem corruption error.
For details of how to check your swap and what to do if you get stuck on a green screen, see the MFS Tools 2.0 Fixes thread.
