B drive replacement and spontaneous reboots

I had upgraded my DSR6000 with an 80 GB Maxtor drive as the B drive last November. After a month or two, there were occasional clicks and stutters from the drive, even when watching live TV. I acquired a Western Digital 80 GB drive. The plan was to use MFSTools 2 to make a backup and preserve my recordings by dd'ing the Maxtor to the WD and remarrying with the original Quantum A drive. I went through Hinsdale's process and it seemed like everything worked. No more stutters or hard drive clicks. Now, though, I have different problems. I've had about 5 or 6 spontaneous reboots in the past 72 hours. Checking the log, I see a large number of write buffer fails. Now, I'm getting an RMA on the Maxtor drive and thinking about dd'ing back over to the new drive I'll get. But is there any way to find out if, perhaps, the problem is with the original Quantum A drive? How can I get more info on what may be wrong? Am I toast here and need to replace both drives or what? Was it wrong to dd the B drive to the same size drive? The clicks seem to be gone. The spontaneous reboots and buffer errors are the only problems now. Any info would be appreciated.
Oh, my temperature is fine, constantly between 48 and 52 C so I don't think it's temperature related.
Thanks,
Steve

Check your cables.
Run PowerMax on the Quantum.
Look through the logs to see if you can find error messages mentioning hda or hdb rather than just 'write failure'.
