guided setup via PPP via internet

I have been working on this for about 40 hours straight and thanks to you all (especially BlackWidow000 and his kicka$$ guide) I now have a bash prompt via telnet. Now when I try to dial out it still fails due to the modem not responding (dead modem in svr2000). I need to get through the guided setup and get the upgrade from 2.5.1 to 3.0 so I can use the external modem. How do I get it to ignore the modem failure and use the PPP connection to dial out? If you can help me I have a tail of the tclient log as well other info if it will help.
Thanks

found the answer to my own problem. BlackWidow000s tutorial expects the shondss variable to exist and be false but on 2.5.1 I don't think there is a shondss variable so I added the catch line again outside the if statements and I get a connection but now it fails getting account status. Any help?

nevermind I think I'm just ranting now as my tivo is now importing.

Now it says there are no numbers in the 410 area code. what's up with that?

I retried the call and it found numbers in my area code (something odd going on at TiVo)

MuscleNerd-- I feel better knowing I'm not just talking to myself here. Slightly embaressed, but better. Now it can't find my cable provider. Here we go again.

I'm going to cry. After all the work I put in toget it to dial out through PPP, my upgrade to 3.0 has killed all of my hacks. Do I have to go through this again? Can I get the shell without cracking the box again?

that bites. what you need to do is change your boot drive. I think you want to hit p in a telnet to your comport right when you plug in your tivo. I mean right away. I don't remember all of the steps in changing that but.. you should be able to find it in here or on google. after that their are a lot of good tutorials for 3.0 and always on ppp.
