Get Greaseman a TiVo!

I'm sure some of you have heard of the Greaseman- he's a shock-jock who used to be huge in DC, and is recently back on the air and making a comeback. I live in San Diego, but listen to him daily on www.dcradio700.com

Well, almost daily he rummages thru the TV guide looking for things to record on his "VCRs"!!! After listening to him say this day after day, I decided to send him an email:

quote:

i keep hearing you're going to tape this and that on your VCR, and today heard you say VCRs.
i'm sure you've heard of a TiVo, and know what it does, which leads me to ask: for a person like yourself with such a demanding (if not altered) schedule and (who appears to) like to watch tv, for god's sake, why don't you have a TiVo?!

if you don't know why you should have one, or what it can do for you, ask me and i'll tell you why (in 50 words or less).

to which he responded:
quote:

hi dave.. i've heard of TiVo.. gotta get one.... grease

The next day on the air he said this: http://www.dcradio700.com/Audio/Gre...%20Sep%2005.asx (seek to 3h27m40s).

Someone has got to send this man a TiVo!! Once he realizes what he's been missing, and starts praising TiVo on the air...cheap advertising for TiVo!!

No, that blubbering idiot should have to pay for his Tivo like everyone else!

Of course he could and perhaps should buy his own, but my point was he's convinced he doesn't need one...although he's just the type of person to really benefit from one, and usually (in my experience) its always the skeptical ones that go crazy recommending it once they get one. If that was done on the air, it would benefit TiVo greatly, which is why I thought he should be given one (by TiVo).

Look out for upper deckers man...

IF he was really cool, hw would have one like Howard Stern

He aint worth the bandwidth...hell, there are bloggers that have bigger audiences.

His show airs on the Internet and on:
WGOP-AM 700 - Washington, DC
WGAB-AM 1180 "The Big Talker" - Evansville, IN (5-9am CT)
WBZV-AM 1400 "The Buzz" - Ebensburg/Altoona, PA
WKHZ-AM 1590 - Ocean City, MD
WQZK-FM 94.1 "netRock94" - Keyser, WV (3-7pm)
WKMZ-FM 95.9 - Martinsburg, WV

Not exactly a heavy hitter anymore...

Bingo! He now does his net show from his basement and in an attempt to resurrect his shattered career, will give it to stations for free. If you have a dead-in-the-water radio station that gets no advertising dollars, you too can fill up a time slot for no cost with his mindless chatter.

Weird thing, I've never heard of this guy before. Listened to a bit of the audio stream, and didn't make it very far. Not my cup of tea I'm afraid.

But the thing is, I was driving home, listening to an audio book of one of Dennis Miller's rant-fests. And there in the middle of the rant, he mentions this guy. And not in very favorable terms.

Weird. Never heard of him before, and now twice in one day.

He was on a local station near me once, and I couldn't stand him at all. Wasn't he one of the Village People or something? It wasn't that he wasn't my cup of tea, I just think he had no talent at all.

Anyone who thinks he hasn't got talent probably hasn't listened to him very much.

He has plenty of talent, his problem is his lack of taste. He was in trouble twice. Once he said "They should kill 4 more so we can take the whole week off" about Martin luther king. Then in response to some horrible rap music he said "Geeez, no wonder they drag them behind trucks..." Pretty tasteless humor IMO.

I enjoy his made up stories like "Sgt Fury" and "The Lawman". I used to keep my clock radio set on DC 101 when he was there. I found that when the radio went off, he would be just starting one of those crazy stories and it would keep me interested enough to keep me from falling back asleep.

I'm glad to find he's back at it. I'll tune in from time to time and give him a listen. He's been punished for his indiscretion.

I was curious what that meant, so I did an internet search.

Gross, man.
